Wisdom teeth are removed when there is insufficient room for them in the mouth, or when thay are growing at the wrong angle potentially crowding other teeth. They can also cause periodontal infection.

Dr Dean has been removing wisdom teeth for over 20 years and offers three different options for their removal.

1. GA: Wisdom teeth can be extracted under a General Anaesthetic in a day hospital (Dr Martin works through Westminster Day Surgery for all GA work).
2. Twilight Therapy. This is when the anaesthetist comes to the surgery, and administers a sedative via a intervenas line. The patient is awake but very relaxed. All four wisdom teeth can be extracted at the same time
3. Wisdom teeth can also be extracted in the dental chair with a local anaesthetic. These teeth are removed over two visits

Oral Surgery
This involves the diagnosis, surgical and related treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, teeth, gums and jaws. These include wisdom teeth, simple and difficult impacted extractions, orthodontic exposures of unerupted teeth and surgical placement of implants.
